Nassir Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan`s Chargé d`Affaires to the United Nations, told the UN Security Council on Wednesday that the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan is "entirely political" and that its resolution lies in the establishment of an inclusive government that guarantees national unity, political stability, and legitimate governance.

According to AnsarPress, Faiq said the international community must use its influence and effective tools to compel the Taliban to accept political dialogue and to sit at the table with "legitimate forces that truly represent the people of Afghanistan." He added that launching such a process under UN supervision is the only way out of the current deadlock.

Afghanistan`s Chargé d`Affaires to the UN also stated that the Doha process must serve as a platform for initiating a genuine political process-one that includes all credible stakeholders, including the Taliban, women, civil society, and youth-and must not turn into a symbolic exercise or an implicit endorsement of unilateral rule.

Faiq described the role of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in facilitating structured political dialogue as "vital," and stressed that appointing a UN Secretary-General`s Special Representative with deep knowledge of Afghanistan and a strong commitment to human rights is essential.

Referring to the situation of the Afghan people, Faiq said the country is at a critical and decisive juncture, and that its people-especially women-have endured decades of war, systematic deprivation, fear, poverty, and displacement, yet continue to stand with courage, hope, and resilience.

He emphasized that the people of Afghanistan seek the protection of their rights and status both domestically and at the international level.
